The new BlizzFail

My name is unique. I am the only person in the USA with my first-and-last; I am quite possibly the only person in the world. I am a woman, I am someone who needs to work for a living, and I am someone who does not want a company who thinks her real name is not private information to have her support.

To those ends, I have canceled both of my WoW accounts; the sheer arrogance and lack of care for the concerns of their players is why I am doing it now, rather than waiting for when the changes actually hit.

It's been great playing with you folks. It's possible, if Blizzard not only fixes this, but apologizes for their attitude and their willingness to expose their non-privileged players to harassment and worse, that I'll reinstate my accounts - but I don't find it likely, so this is more than likely goodbye.

Canaa/Citrinitas/Dämmerung, signing out.

A most reasonable response. (Though there's -two- of me in the USA!)

I'm not quitting yet, but. Yeah.

Sympathies, sis. I completely understand. I know it's not at the point where I feel like leaving but I can see so many reasons to do so. You will be missed, and if Blizz ever pulls their collective heads from out of their collective hindquarters, I'll let you know.

As a note on this subject, I have canceled both my subscriptions. I don't intend to stop playing at this point and will continue to use timecards for the duration, but I want them to see the disapproval numbers.

Just canceled both of my accounts, don't really feel like playing them until the sub runs out. There's ONE of my name THROUGHOUT HISTORY, so yeah. Stupid parents with their unique name.

As a note for everyone concerned about this and the addon vulnerability.

Adding parental controls to your account -will- stop addons from being able to pick up your real name.

/run for i=1,100 do if BNIsSelf(i)then BNSendWhisper(i,"RealID whisper from yourself..");break end end

Run that script before and after for proof.

I'm sorry to see you (both) leaving, but I can certainly understand why. I was looking forward to the upcoming changes in Cataclysm, and a refresh of the whole game. Now, I'm just not feeling excited about playing. No point in rehashing my reasons, as their probably the same as what everybody else has. I'm going to stick things out for now, while I see how this all plays out. Hopefully Blizzard will come to their senses and restore things to a point where you are willing to come back, and the rest of us are willing to stay.

I'm sorry to see you leave as well but I totally understand. Hopefully someone at Blizz realizes what a colossally idiotic move this is and either gets rid of it or scales it back or something.

Well, since I believe that subscriber information is part of their quarterly statements, their financials may be interesting next quarter. However, I'll wager a lot of people (such as myself) subscribe for 3-6 months at a time, so it may not appear immediately.
